Biography:
Lowell Crawford grew up in the Quad Cities and attended Davenport schools. He enlisted in the Navy and chose to become a corpsman, hence the name everyone used for him – Doc. Arriving in Vietnam in November 1968, he served with the 5th Marines Battery in Quang Tri Province. He was killed in a non-hostile accident April 22, 1969 when a truck he was riding in overturned near the town of Cam Lo. Hospital Corpsman Third Class Crawford was buried in Rock Island National Cemetery.
