Biography:
John Stinn grew up in the small town of Panama in Shelby County. He joined the Army in 1968 and trained as a repairman for Huey helicopters. Specialist 4th Class Stinn’s tour in Vietnam started in September 1969 with the 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 11th Aviation Group. He was killed May 15th on a mission into Cambodia when a RPG hit the helicopter while he was gunner. He was buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Panama.
