Biography:
Albion Joe Bergantzel grew up in rural Mills County near Henderson and graduated from Red Oak High School. He entered the Army in February 1970 and arrived in Vietnam in June. He served with the 1st Battalion, 92 Field Artillery Regiment. CPL Bergantzel was killed on February 8, 1971 when the vehicle he was in had an accident that detonated the explosive rocket being transported. The area was near Khe Sanh Airfield in Quang Tri Province. Albion Bergantzel was buried in Farm Creek Cemetery near Henderson.
