Anthony Carra

Anthony Carra was born in Sicily and moved to Des Moines as an infant. Carra had five brothers and sisters, with only one born in the United States. He graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1966. Carra enlisted in the Air Force shortly after high school and was sent to Vietnam in April 1968. Airman First Class Carra was killed due to hostile artillery and mortar fire. The specific details of his death were not released by the Air Force. He was 21 years old at the time of his death. Carra’s body was recovered and returned to the United States and buried at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
