Arden Lee Krukow

Spencer native Arden Lee Krukow was killed on January 22, 1969. He served as a machinist in the Navy. Krukow was sent to South Vietnam in June 1968 and served as a Navy advisor to the South Vietnamese forces. He was killed while serving on a Vietnamese river boat when he fell overboard and was presumed killed. His body was later recovered and returned to Iowa where it was buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Krukow was 22 years old at the time of his death. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Good Conduct Medal.
