Biography:
Ariel Lindley Cross graduated from Des Moines’ Roosevelt High School in 1962 and was a member of the Marine Corps Air Wing. On July 17, 1968, he was flying in a Skynight Electronic Surveillance Aircraft over Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam, when contact was lost. Neither the aircraft nor Cross’s remains were recovered. He was 24 years old. He had been in Vietnam for less than two months at the time of the incident.
