Biography:
Arlyn Loranz Lampert grew up on the family farm near New Albin in Allamakee County along the border with Minnesota. He was a 1967 graduate of the New Caledonia High School in Caledonia, MN. Lampert was drafted by the Army in February 1969 and trained as an infantryman. He was sent to South Vietnam in July 1969 and assigned to Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment in the 25 Infantry Division. During an operation in the Binh Duong Province, PFC Lampert was severally wounded by an enemy booby trap. He was evacuated and admitted to a military hospital. He suffered several fragmentation wounds and internal injuries from the booby trap. PFC Lampert died, ten days after sustaining his injuries, on December 12, 1969. He was 20 years old at the time of his death. His body was buried at the Freeburg Cemetery in Houston County, MN.
