Biography:
Calhoun County native, Billy Bruce Bull, graduated from Lake City High School in the class of 1969. As a young man he was a member of the Lake City Presbyterian Church. He was drafted by the Army in the fall after his graduation. Upon completing his training PFC Bull was sent to South Vietnam in March 1970. He served as an infantryman with Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry in the 1st Cavalry Division. He died on July 24, 1970 during a night patrol mission southeast of Dong Xoai City in the Long Khanh Province, South Vietnam. Bull was 20 years old at the time of his death and was posthumously promoted to Corporal. The young Iowan’s body was returned to the United States and buried at the Lanesboro Cemetery south of Lake City.
