Biography:
Connie Leroy Chandler grew up in Des Moines before joining the Army. He served for over 14 years before being killed in Vietnam. He was married with two children, who resided in Colorado Springs, CO. SGT Chandler was sent to South Vietnam in October 1965 and served with the 1st Infantry Division or “Big Red 1.” He was killed on November 20, 1965 from wounds received during a firefight with the enemy. He was buried by his family at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. SGT Chandler was 35 years old at the time of his death.
