Biography:
Louisa County native, Craig Benton Wolford, was the third Iowan killed in Vietnam. Wolford had served in the Army for over 18 years at the time of his death. SGT Wolford was a Special Forces qualified infantry operations and intelligence specialist. He was scheduled to retire from the military in June 1964. He was killed during an accident on February 14, 1963 in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam, while installing a barbed wire fence in a minefield. A funeral for SGT Wolford was held at the Stacy Funeral Home and his body was buried at the Lone Tree Cemetery, both in Louisa County.
