Biography:
Craig Ray Rogers was a 1968 graduate of Waterloo East High School. He enlisted in the Army in January 1969. He completed his basic training at Fort Polk, LA and completed further training at Fort Meade, MD before being sent to Vietnam in August 1969. SP4 Rogers was serving with the 101st Airborne, first with a demolition squad and later as a radio operator. He was killed on January 7, 1970 while on a combat operation when a booby trap detonated near the demilitarized zone (DMZ). SP4 Rogers was engaged to be married and was 19 years old at the time of his death. His body was buried at Fairview Cemetery in Waterloo.
