Biography:
Daniel Lee Wisely grew up in Davenport and was a graduate of West High School. A friend described him as a man with “a terrific ability to laugh and wasn't afraid to take a chance or two.” SP4 Wisely was drafted by the Army and completed training at Fort Hood, TX. He started his tour in South Vietnam in October 1967. Three months into his tour he was killed in action. SP4 Wisely died on January 6, 1968 from fragmentation wounds inflicted by an enemy booby trap while he was on patrol. He was 20 years old at the time of his death and his body was buried in the Rose Lawn Memorial Estates in Moline, IL.
