David Bruce Matthews

David Bruce Matthews of rural Fairbank joined the Army in April 1965 and began his tour in Vietnam that December. While serving as a firefighter SP4 Matthews become ill and was transferred to a military hospital back in the United States in Denver, CO. He was diagnosed with a blood disease and later died on January 12, 1967. The body of the 20-year-old was buried at the Fairbank Cemetery.
