Biography:
David Douglas Siegel of Cherokee graduated from Washington High School in the class of 1966. He was drafted into the Army on June 5, 1967. After training he was sent to Vietnam that November and served with the 101st Airborne Division Heavy Artillery. CPL Siegel died in a hospital at Phuoc Binh north of Saigon due to complications of pneumonia. A funeral service was held at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church and his body was buried at Memory Gardens Cemetery, both located in Cherokee. He left behind a fiancé.
