Biography:
Dennis E. Brown grew up in Sioux City. He joined the Army in December 1965 and became an infantryman in the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry, 14th Infantry Division. His tour in Vietnam began in February 1966. He was known by his fellow soldiers as being quiet and dependable, a “gentleman warrior.” His unit took part in one of the first major battles involving American troops, the Battle of Loc Ninh on a rubber plantation north of Saigon. Brown’s unit was engaged at Hill 177 when he was killed. He was buried in Graceland Cemetery in Sioux City.
