Biography:
Denny Lowell Bruce grew up and graduated high school in Aurelia in Cherokee County. He was drafted into the Army in December 1965 and was sent to Vietnam in September 1966. PFC Bruce served with the 4th Infantry Division as an infantryman. On November 4, 1966 he was killed by wounds received in combat. PFC Bruce was later awarded the Bronze Star with Valor. The 20-year-old’s body was buried at the Memory Gardens in Cherokee.
