Donald Arthur Thompson

Donald Arthur Thompson of West Union was a graduate of North High School. He was employed at Chensvold Grain Service before being drafted into the Army in February 1968. SP4 Thompson received training at Fort Bliss, TX before arriving in Vietnam in July 1968. He was wounded while involved in combat with an enemy force on an aircraft landing zone near Saigon. SP4 Thompson was transferred to a military hospital where he died on November 14, 1968. A funeral service and burial took place at Bethany Lutheran Church and Cemetery located in West Union. He was 20 years old at the time of his death.
