Biography:
Donald “Denny” Weyker grew up Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1964. He was a good athlete, popular student and a fan of the Beach Boys and fast cars. After attending Marshalltown Community College for two years, he transferred to Iowa State University. He also worked as a brakeman for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. He entered the Army in February 1968 and began his tour in Vietnam in November. Weyker served as a clerk typist and secretary for Headquarters Company, II Field Force at Bien Hoa Air Base. Specialist Fourth Classs Weyker was killed in a night time mortar attack on December 5th. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown.
