Biography:
Donald H. Holm grew up in the Fort Dodge area. He joined the Army in 1966 and started his tour in Vietnam in May 1967. Holm served as rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, known as the “Big Red One.” During a campaign, Shenandoah II, to destroy enemy positions in the Binh Long region near An Loc, Holm was killed by mortar fire. Army Specialist Fourth Class was survived by his wife. His burial information was not made public.
