Biography:
Donald Lee Rupe of Cedar Rapids was a graduate of Washington High School in the class of 1966. He was then drafted into the Army in March 1968 and began his tour in Vietnam in August of the same year. SP4 Rupe was fatally wounded on March 8, 1969 while on a combat mission in Quang Tin Province. He was initially reported mission, but his remains were later identified on March 25, 1969. His body was buried at Oakland Cemetery in Solon. SP4 Rupe died just before his 21st birthday.
