Biography:
Donald Wayne Wilson graduated from Mason City High School in the class of 1955. He was married in August 1958 and had three children. Wilson served in the Navy for 15 years and achieved the rank of Aviation Machinist 1st Class (ADR1). He was serving on an EC 121 electronic spy plane out of Danang Air Base in South Vietnam. The aircraft’s crew monitored North Vietnamese radio and radar transmissions. On March 16, 1970 his EC 121 aircraft crashed during an aborted landing at Danang killing 23 of its 31 passengers, including ADR1 Wilson. His remains were buried at Mason City’s Memorial Park Cemetery.
