Douglas Eugene Crooks

Douglas Eugene Crooks Douglas was a 1968 graduate of Boone Community High School and worked at a local Fairway Grocery Store before joining the Army in January 1970. SP4 Crooks deployed to South Vietnam in September 1970 with Company C, 504th Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Group, 18th Military Police Brigade. He was killed on April 2, 1971 in Thua Thien, South Vietnam as a result of enemy small arms fire while aboard a military vehicle. SP4 Crooks is buried at Squire Boone Cemetery. A tree was planted in Doug’s memory at Garfield Elementary School and is still there today.
