Biography:
Earl D. Osborn grew up in Council Bluffs and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1966 where he was active in photography and the yearbook staff. He was an Eagle Scout. He enlisted in the Signal Corps to continue his work with the camera, joining the 9th Signal Corps when he arrived in Vietnam in February 1968. He was known for his cigar and his desire to get the best photograph possible. On October 11 he was on combat operation in Long An Province when he was killed by hostile fire. Sergeant Osborn was buried in Ridgewood Cemetery in Council Bluffs.
