Biography:
Earl William Marlin Jr. was raised in Keokuk and graduated from Keokuk Senior High School in 1968. He joined the Army in February 1969 and started a twelve month tour in Vietnam in June of the same year. SP4 Marlin served as an indirect fire infantryman with the Americal Division. He was killed on January 6, 1970 from enemy small arms fire while stationed at Landing Zone Minuteman. The 19-year-old’s body was returned to Iowa and buried at the Keokuk National Cemetery.
