Gary Keith Rath

Gary Keith Rath was raised in Davenport and attended Davenport Central High School and graduated in the class of 1966. That April he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following training PFC Rath was sent to Vietnam in November 1966 and was assigned to the 1st Marine Division as a gunner. PFC Rath was killed while on a patrol south of Danang on September 1, 1967 due to several wounds including one to his abdomen. His body was returned and buried at Glendale Cemetery in Le Claire near the Mississippi River. He was 20 years old at the time of his death.
