Gary Lee Moore

Gary Lee Moore was a 1965 graduate of Lineville High School in southern Iowa. The following year he joined the Marine Corps and trained to be an automotive mechanic. He started in Vietnam tour in August 1967 attached to the 3rd Marine Division. LCPL Moore was killed only four weeks into his deployment. He died from multiple fragmentation wounds sustained on September 7, 1967 from an enemy rocket and artillery attack near Con Thien, South Vietnam. Moore was 20 years old at the time of his death. His body was buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville.
