Biography:
MAJ Gene Wesley Brown served in the United States Air Force as a pilot for more than 16 years. He was killed on July 8, 1967 while attempting an emergency landing at Danang Airbase in South Vietnam. MAJ Brown’s B-52 had been struck by anti-aircraft fire and crashed in a minefield just beyond the runway while trying to land. Five of the six crewmen were killed in the incident. MAJ Brown’s remains were laid to rest at the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.
