Biography:
Gerald Llyod Foell was raised in rural Plymouth and graduated from Nora Springs-Rock Falls High School in the class of 1966. He joined the Marine Corps in the October following graduation and was sent to Vietnam in March 1967. PFC Foell served as a rifleman with the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam. On June 3, 1967 PFC Foell was killed during the second of a two day battle that claimed the lives of 75 American servicemen. He had been in country for less than 3 months. A funeral service was held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in rural Grafton and his body was laid to rest at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
