Biography:
Des Moines native Gray Dawson Warren was an Air Force Academy graduate. He was a crewman in a F-4 Phantom on a forward air control mission over Laos on October 25, 1969. The mission was part of an effort to stop enemy traffic on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. After destroying a bulldozer on a low bombing pass, the plane crashed. Observers reported a large fireball and debris field and air reconnaissance did not identify any remains. CPT Warren was declared missing in action.
