Biography:
Jack Larell Collins was born in Maquoketa, IA, but lived in Clinton. As a young man, Collins was drafted into the Army. He eventually rose to the rank of Specialist 4. SP4 Collins arrived in South Vietnam in July 1966, and served as a Combat Engineer in the First Infantry Division. On January 20, 1967, SP4 Collins died while attempting to diffuse enemy grenades in Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam. A memorial service was held at Snell-Smith Funeral Home in Clinton. His body was buried at Clinton Memorial Park.
