Biography:
James Marvin Lee of Fayette graduated from Fayette Community High School in 1965 before enlisting in the Marine Corps. He completed basic training and combat training at Camp Pendleton, CA. PFC Lee began his tour in Vietnam in the fall of 1968 serving with the 3rd Marine Division. He was killed on March 16, 1969 when the vehicle he was driving hit a land mine. A funeral service for the 21-year-old was held at United Methodist Church in Fayette. His body was buried at Richfield Cemetery located in rural Sumner.
