Biography:
Jeffery Thomas Dines was born in Des Moines and later moved to Waterloo. He was a graduate of Waterloo East High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 7, 1964, and completed his basic training in San Diego, CA. PFC Dines arrived in Vietnam in June of 1965 and served with the 1st Marine Division. He died of a brain injury on January 13, 1967 when the truck he was riding in struck a mine near Chu Lai, South Vietnam. Dines was buried at Garden of Memories in Waterloo.
