Biography:
Jeffrey Lynn Wilson grew up in Waterloo and graduated from West High School in the class of 1968. He joined the Marine Corps on June 19, 1968 and was sent to Vietnam that December. LCPL Wilson was killed on March 6, 1970 while serving as crew chief with the First Marine Air Wing. While on a mission to recover the dead and wounded from a battlefield, LCPL Wilson was mortally wounded aboard his CH-46 helicopter. He was 19 years old at the time of his death. A service was held at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church and he was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, both in Waterloo.
