Lieutenant Commander [O-4]
Biography:
Jeffrey Marti Krommenhoek, a native of Sioux City, was a pilot of a Douglas A-4 “Skyhawk” assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany. While on a mission his strike group encountered overwhelming enemy surface-to-air fire. Amidst the chaos, Krommenhoek’s plane was separated from the group. Without a distress call, signs of a deployed parachute, or a crash site, the Navy declared Krommenhoek missing on October 25, 1967. His remains have yet to be recovered and he is now listed as presumed dead.
