Biography:
Jerry Lee Kaster graduated from Knoxville High School in the class of 1965. Kaster’s hometown of record was Des Moines, where his father resided. He joined the Marine Corps and started a 13 month tour in Vietnam in March 1967. The Private First Class was assigned to the 1st Marine Division as a rifleman. PFC Kaster was killed on July 6, 1967 when an enemy explosive device exploded near Hien Loc, South Vietnam. He sustained multiple fatal fragmentation wounds to his head and neck from the blast. The 20-year-old’s body was buried at the Lincoln Cemetery in Knoxville.
