Biography:
Jerry Ray Frazier spent his early years in Fairfield, attending Washington elementary school. Later he moved to Des Moines with his family. Frazier was a 1967 graduate of Des Moines Technical High School. He joined the Marine Corps in 1968. PFC Frazier was killed three weeks into his 13 month tour in South Vietnam. His unit was participating in Operation Scotland II in the Quang Tri Province. He died on February 26, 1969 from multiple fragmentation wounds inflicted by an enemy mine near landing zone Mack north of the Ca Lu Airfield. The 18-year-old’s body was returned to the United States and buried at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.
