John Christopher Lowe

Des Moines native John Christopher Lowe was a 1965 graduate of East High School. He enlisted into the Army in the fall after graduation. He was 18 years old when he was sent to Vietnam in September 1966. SP4 Lowe was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division in the Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam. Nine months into his deployment, on June 11, 1967, SP4 Lowe was killed in action. He died from enemy automatic weapons fire near the Mo Duc Airfield. His body was buried at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
