Biography:
Kenneth Wayne Bonestroo of Hull graduated from Boyd-Hull High School in the class of 1970 and was drafted into the Army shortly after. He arrived in Vietnam in October 1970 where he served as a field artilleryman. On February 6, 1971 Bonestroo was aboard a CH-47 helicopter that was transporting troops and supplies in Quang Tri Province. One of the helicopter engines failed, causing the aircraft to crash. As a result Bonestroo suffered fatal burns to his body. A memorial service took place at First Reformed Church and his body was buried at Hope Cemetery, both located in Hull. He left behind a fiancé and was posthumously was promoted to corporal.
