Kurt Patrick Stephenson

Kurt Patrick Stephenson of Cedar Rapids was drafted into the Army and served as a squad leader in the 101st Airborne Division. He began his tour in Vietnam on May 8, 1968. Stephenson was fatally wounded three months later on August 10, 1968 when he was involved in an attack with enemy forces in Thua Thien Province. A funeral and burial with full military rites was held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. The 20-year-old was posthumously promoted to corporal.
