Larry Dean Johnson

Larry Dean Johnson grew up in Boone. He attended schools in Boone and Boone High School. He joined the Army in September 1967 and was sent to Vietnam in March of 1968. He was killed on Sunday, September 22, 1968 during a combat mission with the 25th Engineer group in Vietnam. His death was reported as resulting from a mine explosion. He had been in Vietnam for six months. SP4 Johnson was 20 years old at the time of his death. His remains were laid to rest at Boone Memorial Gardens.
