Biography:
Larry Gronewold grew up in Donahue in rural Scott County. He joined the Army and trained as an armor recon intelligence specialist. He arrived in Vietnam in January 1968 and joined the Reconnaissance Platoon, 4 Battalion, 23rd Infantry. He was killed by hostile fire in Hua Nghia Province in March 1968. Private First Class Gronewold’s remains were handled in a non-cemetery burial at an undisclosed location.
