Biography:
Larry Ray Driskell lived in the Riverton area and was educated in the Hamburg Schools, graduating in 1964. He entered the Army in December 1965 and completed the Army Advanced Guerilla School at Ft. Polk, LA in May 1966. He arrived in Vietnam in June 1966 and was assigned to the 1st Squadron of the 9th Cavalry, the famed “Headhunters” air assault unit. He was killed on his 20th birthday, August 11, 1966, during a firefight near Pleiku. He was married and his son, Damon Ray, was born August 18th. He is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hamburg.
