Lawrence Raymond Hagedorn

Lawrence Raymond Hagedorn was raised in Carroll where he graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in the class of 1964. He then joined the Marine Corps and served with the 3rd Division as a rifleman. On April 8, 1967 LCPL Hagedorn was on patrol near the Quang Nam Republic of Vietnam when he was attacked by enemy rifle fire. He died from gunshot wounds that he suffered to his neck and chest. His funeral service and burial was directed by the Marine Corps, Des Moines Division and took place at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. He was 20 years old when he died.
