Leonard Dean Cooper

Leonard Dean Cooper of Lucas County joined the Marine Corps and was sent to South Vietnam in August 1969. PFC Cooper served in the 1st Marine Division as an engineer equipment operator. He died on October 18, 1969 when the Jeep he was aboard detonated a mine. Cooper was 23 years old and married at the time of his death. His body was returned to Iowa and buried at the Bluff Creek Cemetery in Eddyville, IA.
