Biography:
Des Moines native Lester Timothy Walker was killed in action on April 24, 1968. Walker was drafted by the Army and sent to Vietnam in March 1968. He served as an infantryman with the Americal Division. SGT Walker was killed by an enemy booby trap while on a combat mission in the Quang Ngai Province. The 21-year-old’s body was returned to Iowa and buried at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
