Biography:
Loren Francis Studer was a 1965 graduate of Clarion High School. As a young man he participated in the wrestling program. He finished third in the State Wrestling Tournament and lettered three years of high school. Studer enlisted in the Navy in February 1966. Following his training he deployed to South Vietnam, completing his first tour in August 1967. Steelworker 2nd Class Studer deployed to Southeast Asia a second time and worked as a Seabee welder. On May 31, 1968, while building a fuel storage tank, Studer was electrocuted. He was flown by helicopter to a military hospital and died while in route. He was 21 years old at the time of his death. His remains were buried at the Saint John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion.
