Biography:
Marshall Kenneth Morris grew up in Des Moines. He was a member of the Fort Des Moines Little League and attended the Fort Des Moines Bible Church. Morris graduated from Lincoln High School. After graduation he worked for his father as a mover until he was drafted by the Army. PFC Morris trained as an infantryman and was sent to South Vietnam in September 1966 with the 4th Infantry Division. He was killed on May 4, 1967 when his unit encountered the enemy while on a combat mission. Four other Americans were killed in the encounter. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for valor. PFC Morris was 20 years old at the time of his death and he left behind his parents and five siblings. His body was buried at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines.
