Biography:
Martin John Reidy was raised in Independence and graduated Saint John’s High School in the class of 1965. That June he joined the Marine Corps. PFC Reidy was serving his second tour when he was killed. The incident took place on April 10, 1968 outside of Danang. While working with the ammos supply, an accidental explosion occurred. PFC Reidy was killed by fragmentation wounds to his body during the accident. Three other Marines were killed during the incident, including Tipton native CPL Murray. PFC Reidy was 21 years old at the time of his death and his body was buried at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Monti.
