Melvin Dale Miller

Melvin Dale Miller was raised in rural Buena Vista County. He was drafted by the Army and trained as a heavy vehicle driver. SP4 Miller deployed to Southeast Asia in January 1970 serving with the 534th Transportation Company. While driving a military truck on a mission SP4 Miller was killed when a hostile force was encountered. He died on July 14, 1970 at the age of 21 years old. His body was returned to Iowa and buried at the Newell Cemetery in Buena Vista County.
