Biography:
Clarendon Hills, IL native Michael Carr Spotswood attended Midwestern College in Denison, IA before joining the Army. Spotswood completed his infantry training at Fort Ord, CA and was sent to South Vietnam in December 1968. He served as an infantryman with the 1st Infantry Division. PFC Spotswood died two weeks after arriving in Southeast Asia. During a training exercise in the Bien Hoa Province, a grenade prematurely denoted. The 21-year-old was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star. His body was returned to United States and buried at the Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Illinois.
